Christ Of The Nuclear Age

Lyrics
He burst on the scene in a craze of glory
The turbulent tail to a half told story
See him playing doctor with the mud and spittle
He's tearing the damned town right up the middle
He's the Christ of the nuclear age
The Christ of the nuclear age
The Christ of the nuclear age
Down at the strip joint where the sinners move
Tell me man, do you disapprove?
All the girls there say his love is the best
He's not impressed with the bottoms and breasts
He's the Christ of the nuclear age
The Christ of the nuclear age
The Christ of the nuclear age
The Christ of the nuclear age
Pick up the whip
Get a good grip
The terror of the temple
One more trip
Their hearts drip trouble
His blood boils like the sea
So, are you taking the ship
Or just walking?
Some clean love come a tumbling down
Cracked its head on the cold ground
Didn't even have a home here to cry to
Talk about tears, I said, "well here's my two"
Coming on
Like a mad cop
Like a sharecropper
With a cane chopper
He's the Christ of the nuclear age
The Christ of the nuclear age
The Christ of the nuclear age
The Christ of the nuclear age

About The Song
From Pass-A-Fist, The Lighthouse, January 1994:
L: "... 'Christ of the Nuclear Age' is one that Dave wrote coming from the standpoint that if Christ arrived here today, on earth for the first time, rather than when He originally showed up, what would happen--what would be people's reaction?"
D: "The germ of that comes from 'My Utmost for His Highest' by Oswald Chambers. It talked about the robust humanity of Christ and how that's highly neglected in the faith, yet there's a strong lesson there. When you talk about the robust humanity of Christ, it brings your own humanity into the picture and you think, 'What would happen now, where would we find Him?' Of course, in the song you would find Him not disassociating Himself from sinners. There's a verse where He's with the girls in a strip joint. On top of all that, you put yourself in the place of being in the religious establishment, as the pharasitical element was back then, and there's a lesson in that, I believe." ...
